So far only two games have caught my attention for this year: 1817 and The Great Zimbabwe. A fair bit is already known about 1817 from very extended open playtest period and the constantly heavy online play it has been receiving. I eagerly await my copy. Conversely, little is known about The Great Zimbabwe asides from a few incidental photos and comments of uncertain accuracy/relevance. However Jeroen Doumen's involvement along with Splotter Spellen suggest that it will be interesting.

Milestones and Urbanization are both on my list. So is Aeroplanes: Aviation Ascendant, the latest Wallace transportation title. Five Points: Gangs of New York, from Andreas "Hansa Teutonica" Steding was supposed to make last Essen, but has been postponed to this year. Saint Malo, the latest Alea, seems lighter than usual for the publisher, but still has potential. Then there's Rosenberg's latest crop: Caverna: The Cave Farmers, Agricola: All Creatures Big and Small, even Würfel Bohnanza. Waka Waka is a multi-player version of the great Jambo. And I don't know anything about The Great Zimbabwe, but any Splotter design is worth a good long look.

And it just turned April! There'll be lots of other interesting games announced in the coming months!

Oh, I was excited there for a moment...by the name I thought it was going to be a board game version of PacMan!

(though multiplayer Jambo does sound intriguing...)

So far just the latest Gerdts title, Antike Duellum, which was partially released at Spiel lest year but the full version with all the trappings should be available this year. It's a 2 player version of Antike with a bunch of revisions.

Only ones i can think of off the top of my head...

Race for the Galaxy: Alien Artifacts
yet to be released, but this one has been in the works for about a year since we last heard word from the thick of playtesting and later stages of design, so I'm fairly certain this will make the 2012 mark.

I wouldn't mind trying out that Zooloretto dice game, but can't find info on whether it already came out last year, or not yet. Either way, it's not a high priority for now.

So many many games... year is looking pretty exciting so far. Maybe not 2011 good, but still pretty damn good:

Caverna: The Cave Farmers
Agricola: All Creatures Big and Small
Rialto
Escape: The Curse of the Temple
Aeroplanes: Aviation Ascendant
Snowdonia
Milestones
Ground Floor
Urbanization
CO₂
Keyflower

to name just a few. BTW, I'm keeping a geeklist of all 2012 releasing that are potentially interesting to me and my wife (as 2p games): http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/137866/a-married-coupl...
