Hi,
I am excited about Virgin Queen. Does anyone have a feel on if this is a little shorter then Herr I Stand? It is 7 turns instead of 9 right? I have picked up HIS and preordered VQ, but I haven't had a chance to play HIS yet.

Thanks!

The Scenario Book makes the following approximations for play time (assuming a full complement of knowledgeable players):

Campaign Scenario: 8 hours
Tournament Scenario: 5 hours

Wow. That seems long for a tournament scenario doesn't it? What does it say for Here I Stand?

The HIS 3-turn Tournament Scenario is suggested to be 4 hours. The VQ Tournament Scenario is 1 turn longer, though.

The VQ turns must take longer since 7turns = 8 hours in VQ and 9 turns = 8 hours in HIS.

We take about 7 hours to play Here I Stand but I don't think we've ever gone past turn 6.

How about a tournament for first time players? I find if a game takes 8 hours the first time it'll never hit the table again.

I don't know but I think even the "shorter" tournament scenario will take at least 6 to 7 hours the first few times.

So ideally I need 6 players to sit down for 5+ hours to play a card-driven strategy game, preferably more than once a year...

As this will probably never happen I'll pass on this one, would have preferred some additional shorter scenarios. I mean 8 hours for a full game, c'mon, this will never hit the table...
I'm still trying to understand the huge amount of P500 preorders over at GMT, do these people actually plan to play this game more than once?

Based on 14 live plays of Here I Stand, I expect I'll play VQ face to face quite a bit as well.

Many of those will probably be with other people who own the game, so it may not be strictly necessary for me to own it, but this game fits squarely into my "First Rule of Game Purchases":

If you would be very upset to miss a chance to play for lack of a copy, buy the game

Oh yeah. If I end up playing it as often as Here I Stand, my life will be ruined.

I think you meant "vastly improved", not "ruined"...

Herr I Stand: Expansion for Here I stand- Nazis invade Reformation Europe. Adds 7th player and considerable extra chaos.

I play HIS online and intend to play VQ online too- so definitely more than one game...
