DARK IN HERE, ISN'T IT?
mbmbmbmbmb
Yes.

Edit: welcome to BGG! I am sure loads of people will add to my short comment, but I still think it's a great solo game!

I am normally not a single player boardgamer, since I enjoy the time with other people at the table. When alone and with enough time on my hands (or "if" as I must say lately), I like to read books, play computer games, or other stuff.
But with Mage Knight, I have to admit that I really enjoyed the two (and a half) solo plays I did.
This was mainly because the game really gives you something to think about and alone I finally have the option to endlessly tinker around, optimizing my turn without anyone else bugging me to speed up. And with that many variables to consider, it is really a good and fulfilling brain burner.
That said, I really enjoy the multiplayer version, also, because it really increases the feeling of urgency (especially when you have to speed think your turns). I think, though that I will seldomly play it with more than three people again, due to the downtime (because those damn other players keep endlessly tinkering with their turns ).
All concluded, I seriously doubt, that I would have bought the game for the single player version only, but that is mainly because single play boardgaming isn't that much of an option for me.
If you have the chance to play it multiplayer every now and then - I'd buy it

It's quite good solo. I think it would be fun with other players, but I think there is plenty of solo play depth. I have played it solo 2-3 times and I plan to play it again in the future.

It's great! I don't play a lot of games (am slowly getting into board games as a hobby after years of playing video games) and I don't have many opportunities to play in groups, so I've played it solo as much as I have with others. Highly recommended.

That's what I bought it for anyway, and so far, I am having a great time with it. I'm sure it plays a little differently with the dynamics of cooperation and combat among multiple players, but like many boardgames, you are focused on developing your own character and achieving your own goals. At least one other guy in my gaming group has ordered the reprint, and I hope to convince a third to do likewise, and after we've all played through it several times on our own, we'll commit a few hours to a multi-player scenario. In the meantime, it's good value as a solitaire experience.

I think I've done 9 solo plays now and I'm only more interested as I go.

Definitely worth it just for solo play.

I played it with a friend, and I bought it that same night. I didn't have to buy it, considering I knew someone that had it, but I was on the lookout for a solo game, and this one hit the spot.

I have cheaper mutliplayer games sitting around collecting dust, whereas I have a few solo games of Mage Knight under my belt, so I'm getting my money's worth out of it.

I have played about 5 / 6 solo play games.

I enjoyed all of them, it is interesting to keep track of your points and to see how you do after some games and with different characters.

Worth the price in my opinion.

I am a solo-only player. I have neither bought nor played it, but on the strength of its reviews, and after reading the Walkthrough, i will definitely be pre-ordering.

I find that if you include set-up and tear-down, this game runs a little longer than is welcome in a solo game (for me). By the last turn I am usually getting VERY antsy for the thing to be done with already but if you have a secure place that you can leave the game set-up and make 2 sessions of it, then sure, it's engaging as a solo experience and possibly worth the admission price.

Another 'yes'. I'm tempted to buy a second copy when it gets reprinted just to have replacement parts

I agree that set up is a bit long for a solo game, but the game itself is pretty fantastic solo.
