Rummy a game of skills or game of luck ?

Definitely a luck factor; some skill is still required. I always thought rummy feels like a race. Just when I think I'm about to win, my wife wins instead

Rummy is a game of luck that you can heavily influence by counting cards and pursuing runs/combos that maximize your number of outs. I'd say skill could get you from a 50/50 win rate up to a 70/30, but luck will never be an insignificant factor.

That mean your wife have better rummy skills, as a rummy player since 4 year, i can suggest you some tips to win rummy

Keep a close watch on your opponent's playing
Discarding high point cards like hot potatoes could save your game!
Alternate the Colours, Avoid confusion
