Just noticed this at an online game store:

Coming Soon, October 17, 2012

WizKids Games proudly announces the first expansion set to their epic Star Trek-themed space exploration and starship combat game— Star Trek: Fleet Captains— with Star Trek: Fleet Captains Romulan Empire (70836)!

The Romulan Empire expansion set features 12 new Romulan ships molded in color and 10 new Romulan Command Decks. A new game mechanic— Espionage— adds new Missions for your fleet and the new Saboteur crew members allows you to deploy secret agents onto your opponents ships! An updated rulebook includes rules to allow for 3-player games.

Star Trek: Fleet Captains (70332) was voted as the #1 game of 2011 by both hosts of the Dice Tower (dicetower.com) and has been called “The best Trek game ever made” (groundzerocomics.com).

The Romulan Empire expands its influence into the game of Star Trek: Fleet Captains. This expansion set contains 12 new Romulan ships with 10 new sub-decks as well as introducing a new Mission type –Espionage– and the ability to assign Romulan Saboteurs to your opponent's ships.

I'm not sure I would call the new rules 'advanced'. Simple some new things to play with.

Well, that's basicly what I expect with an Expansion set, isn't it?

Looking forward to experience what those new things to play with might be aside from the new Espionage Missions and the Saboteuer crew cards. And of course how well balanced the 3-Player-Game turns out to be

And on a funny note:

as far as other expansions I'd like to see the Vulcans next or some other federation allied power to balance the scales.

I think the borg is nicely done by the players variant in this website I plan on purchasing a Borg ship on Amazon and making it happen.

I'm working on several game variants my most ambitious is whenever you stop at a M planet you roll D100 and there are over 100 missions for the away team to participate in I have downloaded every episode from the franchise and turning each one into a away team mission. Also giving crewmembers stats so that they can solve missions with their different skill sets.
here's a Federation crew card a redshirt easily to be knocked off, I'm giving up each ship a minimum crew complement but their low level crew members when you get a crew card from the comand deck these crew members are heroes and have much higher stats and will replace the lower level crew members .

But you have three opposing sides right now.

Why would any one of them need further balancing?

Thanks, Mike.

Here are some simple stats for Wizkids to consider (started here):

Number of BGG users claiming to own Star Trek: Expeditions: 1007
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/collection/items/boardgame/7913...

Number of BGG users claiming to own Star Trek: Fleet Captains: 1380
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/collection/items/boardgame/7912...
(that's 37% better sales despite complaints about components' quality, broken ship issues, and less time on the market)

Expansions for Expeditions: 1 so far (characters/miniatures), plus a promo from Essen; rumours of others coming soon (missions).

Expansions for Fleet Captains: none so far; lots of speculation, but nothing really confirmed.

Personally, I'm usually not one to get caught up in the hype of leaked teasers and other marketing ploys leading up to releases. But I'll say that "unnamed ST:FC expansion TBA" is at the top of my birthday wish list (October 17) - just sayin'.

Sometimes you get exactly what you wish for!

iNano78, I am pretty sure that means you are a witch.

Actually my birthday is October 16th (no joke). If I had thought of asking for the expansion first, we might have got it a day earlier.

When are you going to add this to the site sounds intriguing. This may make for an highly playable solitaire variant.

Actually, Romulans would be harder to play solitaire than the other teams due to the way their new missions work.

Awesome, iNano! What I nice move by the WizKid

As my birthday is coming up really soon, I should probably have made that wish, but you deserve it more, really, having spotted all that stuff here and on the web! Thumbs up!!

Well, the announcement is not that official. iNano78 just had very strong search-fu and shared the results with us The info we have is from an online retailer.

And have you seen how Geosphere relishes in handing out little bits and pieces every now and then or commenting on some (minor?) detail The benefits of being a playtester obviously don't end at the gaming table, do they

Considering the pay rate, I see it as part of my profit.

BGG is not a gaming site.

It's an interest-specific social network.

Tell that to the fine people at Blue Coat. Fortunately I was able to get an exception added for BGG.
