Upwords is a nice alternative to scrabble, if you enjoy spelling games then this is a good choice for you.
it has the smae elements as Scrabble but you have one extra advantage you build words in a vertical direction. you may change a word on the board as long as you maintain at least one of the original tiles.
this give the game a nice dimension.

This game is excellent for families with young children.
They can work on their spelling and enjoy the challenge of the game too.
I do recomend that you establish a base rule concering what words you are willing to accept.
I use the rule the word must be in the Scrabble players dictionary.
you may customize this as you wish.

the game is for two to four players and takes about twenty to fourty minutes to play.
