Competitive board gamers will probably hate this, but role-players might dig it.

Like many Keepers, I don't "give" horror damage, I TAKE away Sanity points. Wouldn't it be cool to keep the stats secret from players? I can understand telling them when they're at half health and when they're at death's door (Hey, that festering zombie bite really hurts!). But isn't the point of being insane that you don't realize you're insane? Next game I'm gonna try this:

1. Collect unused character stat cards from each player and keep them behind a screen.
2. Put a red and blue die on each card to represent health and sanity.
3. Narratively tell players when they take damage, but not how much
4. Secretly keep track of how much damage they take on the dice.
5. Tell players when they're at full, half, two, and one health.
6. As far as sanity, well, that's our little secret devil

Anybody tried something like this?

I haven't for this, but I've certainly done similar for roleplaying games.

You want to make it harder on the players? Seems like a bad idea to me, but if you try it, report back.
