Hello fellow BGGers

For months now I have been researching information on board game design, prototyping, publishing and self-publishing. My research has proven to be quite fruitful and I managed to gather well over a hundred interesting links on those subjects. Although I originally made this list for my blog http://maplemeeple.blogspot.ca/ , I figured I could also share it with the BGG community. I know many of these links have been posted here before and that similar lists have been compiled but I have yet to find one that was so broad or up to date.

I would love to keep growing and updating this list, so if you find more please share it here. Also please let me know if a link goes dead so I can either remove it or find an updated link. If you have a business or a website that would be relevant to this list, don’t hesitate to let me know so I can review it and add it. Suggestions, thoughts and comments are also welcomed.

Granted, some links are a bit obvious (mostly in the “Publishers” and “Social networking” categories). But in the interest of being thorough, I decided to include them.

Certain categories are a little bare and I would love your help with adding content. Here are the categories I would particularly like help with:

- Community sites: they need to be specific to a certain location. I am looking for web sites that would lead to face to face interaction (whether it is for gaming groups, designer groups or play testing groups) or promote some kind of local networking.
- Design tips: I’m looking for posts (here or elsewhere) or blogs explaining in detail a certain aspect of board game designing, prototyping, publishing or self-publishing.
- Important events: I’m looking for conventions and trade shows
- Podcasts and game news: This one is self-explanatory
- Publishers: I’m sure I omitted a lot of them. I’m looking for publishing companies that don’t exclusively publish their own designs and that are preferably open to submissions.

If you are the owner or administrator of one of these websites and feel like it hasn’t been placed in the right category or if you would like me to take it out of the list, please send me a private message and I will fix the situation.

Thank you

Pitying fools as hard as I can...

Wow. Impressive. I'd probably take podcasts off the list just because if you start listing them you could easily double the size of the list...

Edit, also maybe add to here?: http://boardgamegeek.com/wiki/page/Game_Design_Resources

I know the Wiki isn't heavily used (or at least I never use it), but it does seem like the "right" place for this.

Another (and frankly more professional/better organized) source for royalty-free fonts: http://www.fontsquirrel.com/

The 1001 free fonts site seems to be mostly dedicated to novelty fonts - good place for your box cover title or maybe some on-the-board labels.

Font Squirrel added thank you.

You might be right about the podcasts. The reason I put it up there is because they can sometimes be a good source of information. The best thing to do might be to just keep the best ones. This will take some research on my part and some help from the community. This would also apply to gamming news web sites.

According to you guys, which are the best podcasts and gaming news web sites?

This is a great overview of the design and publishing stages:

A great list! We co-host a monthly board game designer's meetup here at Snakes & Lattes on the 3rd Monday of each month with the Toronto Area Boardgame Designers (https://www.facebook.com/groups/tabdmembers/), which could be something for your community section! I'm definitely going to share this list with them.

There is a forum created for french game designers, testers and creators.

If you want you can add the new forum www.creaj2s.com - it's still a young forum but offers private forums for guilds of designers to cooperate on group projects.

Might be a good alternative to designers who wants to create in groups but not on public forums.
