It's been a while since my last update. I try to play games as much as I can but find my playing time restricted quite a bit due to many other commitments. I have a regular gaming partner along with my son and several of his friends. Unless something major comes up, I will be attending GenCon for the first time this year in 2015. I am excited for that.
There are four games that appear to stand out in my collection. One is Lord of the Rings, the Living Card game by Fantasy Flight games. I have two copies of the base game (would enjoy adding a third) and every expansion printed to date. My playing has not kept up with the expansions as I tend to play this when traveling, bringing a few solo decks and either a saga expansion or a cycle to work through.
A second is Memoir '44. I think I have everything except for the Overlord expansion (did not need it) and the bag. Having everything may be a bit of an understatement. I think I have three copies of the base game along with two of each, the Eastern, Mediterranean and Pacific expansions. I have one of everything else that has been published and offered.
A third is Star Wars X-Wing. Once again, two copies of the base game and at least one of everything else. I am a bit of a completionist but, there is hope! For those that have a need to be complete in their collections and experience, I have found myself a bit overwhelmed at times by the sheer amount of gaming goodness and tend not to play the games as I had once played them. Memoir '44 and X-Wing face this conundrum with limited time to play.
A fourth is Star Trek. I do like Attack Wing for the mini scenarios available in the expansions. I decided from the forefront to play this simply for fun and the scenarios that are offered so I have not sought to collect a whole array of ships - just those focused on my favorite themes: Romulans, Federation, Klingons, and the Mirror Universe. Tholians would be nice too but not well developed yet.
I have been playing a lot of Dice Masters as of late but only Marvel and Justice League. I cannot get into the D&D and Yugioh themes. I also decided not to even try to complete collections as I can get quite competitive for fun with a starter and gravity feed.
I will confess to longing once again for Avalon Hill roots and am willing to listen to trade offers for the old AH strategy games, especially those listed as wanted in trade.
