Let me introduce myself. My name is Brent Moroz. I live in a small town in northern Alberta. Currently I am a systems analyst / programmer with a distance eduction university.
Now that part is done lets get into my gaming habits. I have always enjoyed board games since I was young. It wasn't until a friend introduced me to a FLGS (150 km away) that I finally became a true fan. We had just popped by the store because a few of us were interested in starting a gaming group and we had heard that the owner will lend out games to store members. I was in heaven as soon as we walked through the door. The amount and variety of games just floored me. We browsed for a bit, asked some questions (they stopped the lending of games unfortunately), and found out that they have open board gaming on Fridays. I had to give it a try. My first friday night was November 5, 2004. I still remember the games that I played (Giganten
). Since that time I have been driving most Friday nights to get my fix.
As you can see from my collection, I have a wide variety of gaming tastes. Some, not many though, of the games that I have are still in the shrinkwrap begging to be played. I have formed a gaming group with some of the people I work, hence the AUGG (Athabasca University Gaming Group). I was mainly going to use this as a spot that we could put all of our games in but it has since grown to be my own. I had also started a monthly gaming night within the University through our Wellness Committee. Thanks to this, we have also been able to get our board games purchases reimbursed through our wellness funds. The rest of my family are now enjoying the board gaming hobby now as well. It is great to see the nieces and nephews beg to play a new board game on Christmas than a new video game that they just got.
One of the things you may have noticed is the lack of ratings on the games that I have/played. I find that my ratings change based on who I play each game with. One of these days I will get around to rating the games that I have played. Honest.
I think that is about it for now. Hope you enjoyed learning about me. Now get out there and play.
