I purchased three "serious" games almost at the same time for my start into gaming. In a bookstore at a local mall in about 1973. I purchased Luftwaffe and bought Panzer Blitz for my brother for his birthday. I was so excited about my brother's game that I talked my mom into letting me have it! At about the same time I subscribed to Strategy and Tactics magazine and the first issue I received was "WolfPack."
Those were my introduction into real gaming. Wolfpack, Luftwaffe and PanzerBliz. Since that time I have dabbled in all types of boardgames and computer games. I like all genres but probably like abstracts a little less, generally speaking.
I am trying to get my collection listed here and have it about a half done I think. After that I hope to actually rate all the games. I don't think I will ever have the "times played" portion even remotely close to all the games I have played. Every game listed, at least for now, is a game I own. All are for sale or trade with just a few exceptions.
I enjoy games on just about any topic and find that it is the analysis of the game system that enthralls me. I consider myself to be average in skill for most games and although I am competitive I don't play games for that reason but to have fun.
Boardgaming has been a most rewarding hobby for me in so many ways. I am thankful games are such a huge part of my life.
