Hello! I am an avid, middle aged gamer that cut his teeth on the original Avalon Hill table games before moving into RPG in the early 1980s. I am not currently a part of a gaming group because I live in a a fairly remote part of Washington State. I do game with my family as we enjoy a Game Day each week on the weekend. I have been fighting the urge to scare my young kids by pulling out my Panzer Blitz set and have instead focused on easing them gently into strategy and simulation based table games that are more age appropriate. So far, it has been great fun.
I do not consider myself a collector of old, original table, miniature based and RPG games. I do, however, gather playable copies of these old games. I am a bit of an amateur historian and I greatly injoy understanding how the hobby(hobbies?) have progressed through the years. I particularly like seeing old product lists, reading old game reviews and reading the stories behind the scenes in the game industry of the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.
My family and I are planning a move in the near future to a large city center in Washington State at which time I hope to reconnect with a regular gaming group to continue pursuit of my interest. In the meantime, I will hunker down and enjoy my Heroscape battles with my 7 year old son!
