I LOVE playing and reading about board games. These days it is pretty much my only hobby besides doing things that my kids want to do. I love nearly all types of games. My favorite games are medium weight euros with lots of theme (especially worker placement, cards with multiple uses, and pick up and deliver) and 2 player conflict games. I love games with lots of characters and player powers.
I try to focus my gaming on playing and reading about games and less on collecting. I want to have games for all occasions, but lately I am focused more on getting more plays of my games instead of buying more games.
To this aim I have a hard 100 game cap on my games. If I want to buy a game, I must sell or trade one for it. This does not count expansions, promos, or standalone versions that are essentially expansions (combat commander pacific, dungeons and dragons adventure game, battlecon, etc.) I count all the combat commander games as 1 game for instance. Also, I do count all my traditional style card games and random tiny filler games as 1 game since I have a plastic box I fill with these. I have a fascination with card games and have started collecting them separately.
Here is my 100 game list. I categorize my games in 3 main categories: Euros, Thematic, and Social games.

My top 10 has been hard to nail down over the years. It has fluctuated a lot over the last 10 years of gaming. This is my current iteration and I expect it to stay pretty stable over the next year or two.
Here are some games that have been my #1 game over the years that have been replaced for various reasons:
1) Dungeons and Dragons
3) Axis and Allies
4) Star wars miniatures
5) Magic the gathering
6) Doom the board game (great game, but takes forever)
7) Descent journeys in the dark (still love this game, but it takes too long)
8) Memoir '44 (still in my top 10, I love this game)
In addition to my top 10 games these are the games I want to most play right now.
I am happily married for 19 years now with 4 wonderful children, two boys and two girls. In the fall of 2014 my wife and I left a career as missionaries to the military at Fort Hood. We moved back to our favorite place we have lived, Fort Worth. I have a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth.
I am currently a supervisor at UPS.
