I once spent a New Years Eve at a "camp" with some friends. We had sworn to each other to stay up the entire night. I wasn't very old so I don't think I had ever done that before (besides, this time was the first time my parents weren't around). To keep us awake, we decided to pull out a random board game from the book shelves. There were tons of them. What we got was Talisman (Revised 4th Edition).

We opened it up and my mind was just blown. Such beautiful artwork! Heroes and monsters, magic items and spells, towns and open fields! I had never seen anything like it. It was like I was 5 again and I had a perfectly valid excuse to pretend to hit monsters with swords. I don't remember much of the game, except that I played the Warrior (oh, and the Priest sucked). We didn't know that much English so we kinda made out what we could and just moved around the board. It took us 6 hours or so to finish it, but I loved every minute. It was an adventure.

Fast forward to fall 2010. My brother has recently moved to a new town and the rest of the family are visitng. He and I walk into a board game / miniature store. Something comes to my mind. I say to my brother: "You know what would be funny? If I could find that game I played once. I don't even know what it's called, but you moved around a board and had to cross a river, andOH MY GOD THERE IT IS!!" On the shelves sat a shining copy of the revised edition. I pulled it out and drooled over it a bit, but I didn't really have the money to buy right there, on the spot. But now at least, I knew it existed at what it was.

Christmas time. One kinda big present from my brother. I had my suspicions, and I was right. Talisman. My brother and I played it so much the days afterwards. We stayed up hours longer than usual and woke up hours earlier than usual, just to play. It was epic. And one day we said: "Wow, board games are really underrated. We should play more." Long story short: I am now a board game collector. My collection increases slowly but steadily. And all thanks to that epic journey I once had in the magical land of Talisman.

My Top 10: My favourite games.
My Hot 10: The games I play the most right now (this is often connected to how new a game is).
