I’m originally from Viña del Mar, Chile, but I'm living in Santiago. I have also lived in Bogotá (Colombia), Sydney and Melbourne (Austrlalia). In the different places I’ve lived I’ve been able to meet great people to play games, made good friends and get to know several different games. Every place has been a wonderful experience.
I tend to like euro games with good themes, though I focus more on the rules that the theme. I think I prefer “middle weight”, and the classic kind of euro that is not rules heavy, but has lots of depth while playing (Torres, El Grande, Keyflower, Power Grid, etc.). I tend to avoid games that rely in combos or the need to know every card in the game to be able to be a good player (though there are exceptions). An ideal game for me is one that gives you all the information you need to play the first time, and every time you play it you just try to figure out the best way to win. A little luck is always nice to force adaptability.
I also like Role Playing Games, but now it's very difficult to find the time to play and prepare a story, so I have moved to board and card games instead. I still read role playing games every now and then, and I’m trying to keep up with a regular group, though.
Lately I’ve found joy in in making games at home, something that kickstarter and the PnP goals have made possible. Probably the quality leaves a lot to be desired, but it’s fun to make and play (and I save a little in shipping). Hopefully someday I will also create a game, and some other people will be making it.
