So this is where the stories go, right?
I've been a comic fan since I can remember. I've been reading comics since I was 6 and actively collecting them the past 10-15 years.
Comicshops in my country are rare as it is, so they usually double as a gameshop. So I'd seen all the catan boxes being carried away by happy customers, but my family aren't gamers by large and if they play it's abstract. They don't do 'fiddly'
During my internship I'd play bohnanza a lot and I liked it. Years later when my girlfriend moved in with me and I was standing at the counter to buy my comics I bought the Catan cardgame. Just an impulse. We tried it, we played it, we liked it. We bought two expansions: same story. We bought carcassonne and again we had a blast.
Then a lot of stuff happened that turned our lives upside down so games got forgotten a bit. Now our lives are back on track in almost every way (getting married next spring) and we play a lot. Again.
And now I have been a member of BGG for over a year and just purchased my second patronage badge. And my collection has quadrupled in that period, much to my girlfriends' dismay. And I may not be allowed to buy another game for the next few months...I think I'll hit 100 games before I buy my next patronage badge!
