Hello, this is my little corner in BGG, so I should introduce myself properly.
For start, since December 2010 I'm the happy owner of a boardgames shop
in my hometown in Vrilissia, Athens!
You can see more here
are news and most of the games in the shop.
Now for a blast to the past:
Like most children, I also grew up playing boardgames.
My favourite was Crossbows and Catapults
, and later enjoyed Ghost Castle
, The Game of Life
and several other (always hated Monopoly
). But at the age of 9 I got HeroQuest
and played it almost everyday, bought an expansion
and even started to make my own "campaigns". At the same time my friends and I would organise weekly championships of Subbuteo
. Afterwards, by 1994, I bought Space Crusade
and Curse of the Idol
but was starting to lose interest.
Several years later, at the age of 19, me and my friends got in a frenzy of Risk
, costing us hours and hours of our lives! This lasted for 2 or 3 years. Then the whole boardgaming phase faded away. We would meet up and play computer games or someone would suggest a boring game of Trivial Pursuit
. But that was as far as it would go (and still is for most of my friends).
Until 2006, when I met my wife
(who played mostly computer games and Magic
at that time). One day we visited a friend of hers and he brought up two strange boardgames, that I had never seen or heard before, Zombies!!!
and Puerto Rico
. That was it, the old "passion" woke up! We would meet up and organise gaming nights, and each night I would discover a different great game and would be even more impressed. So, awkwardly, my wife and I would start buying some games, two or three just to have on the side when our friends would visit, or just to kill some time with some 2-player games.
After a year or so, I visited BGG for a total irrelevant reason
, signed up and started surfing, reading, discovering games and since then I have seen my collection grow bigger every month.
Apart from boardgaming info, I live in Athens, Greece. I lucky, being married to a woman who shares my passion for boardgames. Also Ι have an unbeliavably clever son, born November 2009 and an extremely cute daughter, born August 2011, who I hope will enjoy boardgames as much as their parents! For more, jump to my Interests page.... ... ...
