Member of the 'Geek since May of 2009 and for some reason one day I got the wild idea that I could do reviews. I first tried my hand with written reviews and while in the beginning "Rough" would be a compliment they did eventually get better (some even started breaking 100
thanks!). You can see all 50 written reviews here.
My one major goal with doing reviews was to let people know exactly how a game plays, how family friendly a game was, and if I thought a game gave you your moneys worth. One thing that I wasn't a fan of was a hyper enthusiastic review that really didn't give the nuts and bolts of a game and this was something I greatly wanted to avoid.
Early in 2013 I had another crazy idea that was brought on by seeing the statistics that Aldie posts at the beginning of every year. I decided to stop writing reviews and start filming reviews. Again to say the early reviews were "Rough" would be an abuse of the English language. They are getting better though and I have finally found a format I like and will stick with for a while at least. I will post 2 videos for each game. One video focusing purely on how to play and giving a good sample game that gives a really strong feeling of the general game play. The second video will be a fairly in depth video covering
1) Component quality and bang for the buck - Sure it's fun to play but $100 for a deck of cards really hurts!
2) Family Friendliness and optimal player count - let's face it some games, no matter how good they can be, just fall flat with some player counts. Cosmic Encounter with 3? JUST SAY NO! Dominant Species with 6? Only if you want to experience glaciation literally!
3) My overall opinion of the game as a whole - Game play, game play, and more game play! I will try to direct it towards a games target audience because I realize that just because I was bored to tears doesn't mean the game is bad it MIGHT just mean it wasn't for me.
