"Any life when viewed from the inside is simply a series of defeats."
-- George Orwell
I buy mostly wargames that I won't have time to play, marvel at the beauty of their countersheets without ever really punching them (usually), page through their rules without understanding them, and then go out and buy more.
My main interest is in World War II and the Cold War, because that's what I was interested as a very small boy in the 1980s. It's weird for me to think that the Tet Offensive will be as far away for my son (born 2015) as the first flight of the Spitfire was for me.
My main interests are the RAF throughout WWII, and the British and the Canadians in Normandy and beyond. I try to preserve a realistic view of their capabilities, but inasmuch as anyone can be when unrelated to and separated from them by the vast gulfs of miles and years, I am immensely, fiercely proud of them.
