When I started in this hobby I thought I was a eurogamer. Now I don't think so. Agricola and Endeavor both fell flat for me, and Lords of Waterdeeo is only okay. Clearly I don't really like worker placement, and set collection is also pretty bland. I don't bring enough brains to my board gaming to be a good eurogamer. So I've given up my eurogamer credentials.
Am I ameritrash then? I don't think so, though I have not had enough chances to find out. Miniatures don't get me all excited and I'm skeptical of dice.
I would enjoy developing as a wargamer, but I lack opponents and time. Also, my lack of interest in WWII is a real hindrance.
My best guess is that I am a medium weight hybrid gamer. The games I like, and design, are usually of the "gateway" weight. I play games to be social and the games I enjoy are fun to teach and play with my parents and siblings, while also rewarding skillful play. I think the term "thematic" gamer might fit best. I like games to transport me to different places and give me interesting decisions to make there. Look at my collection and you'll see.
