I have been a game player of all varieties almost as long as I can remember. I loved chess with my dad, starting at age 6, and continued to play checkers, Monopoly, Mouse Trap, Rummy, and Cribbage among many others with my family.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in History, with emphasis on the French Revolutionary period and women's rights. I also split my studies with religious history and received a minor in Classical Studies with emphasis in Ancient Imperial Rome. I have begun work on an M.A. In History, but due to unforeseen circumstances that is on the wayside. I studied American religious history for this and have finished nearly all of my course work.
My primary gaming partner is my wife, who humors my gaming interests to the best of her ability and patience. I also frequently play games online with my sister via Vassal and BoardGameArena. As often as I can I drag my son away from his video games for board game time, and his favorites include Dungeon! (His absolutely favorite game. He can play it for hours), Mouse Trap, Trollhalla, and King of Tokyo.
I don't have a regular gaming group largely due to a convoluted life schedule that I hope will be settling down soon. I do, however, have several old gaming friends whom I met playing L5R weekly tournaments ten years ago that I keep in touch with, but we only all get together sporadically due to families, jobs, etc.
I love wargames, but rarely get to play them, and nothing more complex than Twilight Struggle or Commands and Colors (besides solo) for some time now. I also like meaty Euros and I love card games, traditional or otherwise. My top 10 and Hot 10 represent some of my current interests, albeit loosely. I try to keep it updated but often forget.
If I've upset or offended you at any point, I apologize. I get rather passionate about things and I am infinitely better at maintaining composure and dialogue in person where my natural impatience in debates can be consoled with immediate point/counterpoint discussions.
Below are some random games from my collection.
