Long time lurker - first time caller.
I've only recently become actively interested in board games although I realised recently that I've always had a passive engagement in the hobby.
This is a great forum and I've learnt tons lurking on the peripherals of posts. Consequently my wife has become a gamer because I've stopped impulse buying sub-par games (like Ninja Burger
) and started to research games that I could confidently suggest knowing that we'll enjoy.
Since finding better games, I've found that I've been allowed to purchase more games! Consequently my collection has burgeoned fairly quickly from 4-7 to upwards of 30. I know this is but a speck on the beach that is BGG, but it's my speck and I enjoy it.
I've found that often I gain more enjoyment researching a game, and finding the "perfect" game for someone else, then I actually gain in playing the game. Consequently I'm hoping to add my spin on board games and contribute my experience (feeble though it may be) to BGG.
So, community, thanks for informing me of a better way to impulse purchase board games - if you ever want a chat then I am here!
