I've enjoyed board gaming since childhood, getting into modern board gaming in the mid-1980's with the San Diego group Gamesters. In the 1990's I played in the Los Angeles area, primarily with a group that met at the TRW missile base. I then moved to Phoenix AZ, meeting friends at "in store" gaming gatherings on Friday nights in Mesa. Most recently, I completed a five+ year stint in the DC area, gaming with some great people from the Games Club of Maryland, the Fair's, Jones', Fisher's, Reinholds', Hymowitz', and others.
I'm now back in Arizona, playing at gaming events scheduled on Meetup.com. Here's a BGG photo of my backyard including my two elves trying their hand at a classic game.
I like a variety of games, especially enjoying racing games. I appreciate attractively designed and well themed games, consequently rating games like Mississippi Queen much higher than most people do. Along those lines, I like to "enhance" games with nicer bits where possible, such as die cast cars for Daytona 500, a wooden & steel guillotine for the game of the same name, heavy Vegas chips for Vegas Showdown, etc. I tend to shy away from longer games, preferring 3 one hour games to 1 three hour game. I have an adult son who will play once in a while and a beautiful wife, whose interest in gaming took hold while in Maryland.
