I play tons of German-style boardgames and some lighter/quicker wargames. I'm part of the Santa Clarita Boardgamers, and usually show up at SoCal Games Days. My day job is being a systems engineer at JPL (Caltech/NASA's center for robotic exploration of the solar system.) We are the engineers who design, fly, and drive the Mars rovers, as well as other orbiters, probes, space telescopes, etc.
My Top Ten is an older list I put together over a decade ago. They're all still favorites, though perhaps Ausgebremst has fallen the most. My Hot Ten is a ranking of more recent games that are also my favorites (i.e. they don't replace the Top Ten, they add to them).
If my rating distribution looks odd, it's because I'm slowly but surely adjust my rankings to even numbers only. In other words, a 5-point scale with ratings of 10-8-6-4-2-0. I like that because it forces me to stay away from the common 7 rating, and commit to whether a game is an 8 or 6. Plus, it encourages more 10s, which I also like.
