Well, I have just four words for you, Santa...Shut the front door!
Those were some awesome and unexpected choices!
Geeklist update with pics coming shortly! EDIT: here!
Thanks so much! I'm crazy excited to play these.
I was soooo happy to hear from you today!
I don't want to get "hosed" for Christmas!
Should I just leave the cookies in the basket?
Hello Secret Santa!
I promised a few "cookie crumbs" for you to follow, so here are a couple.
I do a pretty good job of keeping my ratings and wishlist up to date, so you can peruse them as you please. I need to get better at adding rating comments, but there are quite a few in there to give you an idea of what I like. If you take a look at my user blog
, you'll find lots of other information.
I play in a couple different groups, but I have a seven-month old son now, so that has taken a bit of a backseat. I am fortunate enough to have a wife who is as big a gamer as I am, but that also means that I can't just take an evening out "with the boys" (as it were) to game... she'd be too jealous! We only get out to our game groups about once a month if we can get one of our parents to babysit.
I have quite a few multiplayer games on my wishlist that I would definitely be thrilled to receive, but of late I've been focusing my acquisitions on games built for two. We get a few hours in the evenings or sometimes on the weekend when we can sit down together and play, but most of our collection is really built around multiplayer gaming. If you can use your magic to find great 2 player titles among my list, I'd be ever so thankful.
I wouldn't even mind if you had a great 2 player idea that wasn't on my list, but do check out my ratings and previously owned lists if you veer from the beaten path. I've played / owned a few of the "big" 2 player standbys that just didn't do it for us. I trust you, though! You don't get the big red suit for nothing!
I hope that helps a little. A few more tidbits:
- Kramer / Kiesling
- Doumen / Wiersinga (Splotter)
- Stefan Dorra
- Old school Euros (Goldsieber Spiele, Hans im Gluck, etc)
- Proto Euros (Acquire, Outpost, etc)
- Uber Euros (Splotter: Roads & Boats, Antiquity; etc)
- Old school econ games (Empire Builder, Merchant of Venus, 18XX, McMulti, etc)
- "elegant" interactive econ games (Container., etc)
- "themed abstracts" (Through the Desert, Samurai, Medina, Torres, etc)
Note: I am in the process of overhauling my profile description. Anything below the horizontal line is the old version I'm keeping around 'til I'm done updating.
I play often with the Northshore Boardgamers
[a game-group I organize] and the Southeast Louisiana Boardgamers
and much less frequently with the Game Night Gamers
. Most of these people are also BGGers.
I love trading, but I'm mostly interested in multi-game trades and in trades that involve at least one game on my wish-list. Do NOT offer me a trade that consists of any post-FRED Eagle Games, any Gryphon Games, any FRED games, or any Funagain games products. I will not accept.
You may want to read up on my gaming history
, or perhaps find out some of the things I like in games
. Maybe you'd be interested in my thoughts on theme
or the significance of sweet spots
or the value of variety
or some cool components
, or in learning why I don't like "multiple paths to victory"
You may even be interested, for some bizarre reason, in how I approach life and games in general, in terms of my personal beliefs and values
. If you want to get in on my good side, respond to my wife
.These are just some of my favorite people on the site,
who I think you should also follow. They can always be counted on to provide great recommendations, interesting perspective, thoughtful insight, and generally useful commentary you'd do well to stop and read. Most are highly opinionated! Club Board Game verification code:
