I tend to enjoy most games, with enjoyment varying by setting and characters around the table, hence many high ratings. I usually give games a half-dozen chances before giving up on them. I don't mind games involving luck, but I don't like waiting forever to make my turn.
I love games with the play for the moment vs. future concerns, and I also enjoy blind-bidding and simultaneous actions. I much prefer heavier euro-style games (like Power Grid, Goa, Age of Steam, Princes of Florence) with the occasional epic 4-hour game (like Die Macher and Republic of Rome). I'm a sucker for area control (El Grande, San Marco, Louis XIV).
Nowadays I'm no longer on the cutting edge of gaming, but with a move back to Brunswick I'm hoping to get on top of things again.
