I'm a fairly new board gamer who visited BGG after playing the Xbox's versions of Catan and Carcassonne in the spring of 2007. Previous to that, my board game experience was AD&D, Talisman and other games I played in high school. However, in these later years I had no idea there was a large following of these new designer games, and eagerly ran to my nearest hobby store to buy a few analog versions to play with friends.
I started off slow (Ticket to Ride, Catan, Lost Cities, Carcassonne, Battleline, Hive, San Juan, LOTR Confrontation), and graduated to mid-level strategy games (Puerto Rico, Race for the Galaxy, Battlestar Galactica, Agricola). Now I'm truly getting hooked on the hobby, listening to podcasts, and reading up on games in BGG.
In my personal life, I'm an IT professional in the Philadelphia suburbs. I'm into sci-fi, movies, rollerblading, reading, and travel. If you're in the area, let me know and maybe we can arrange a few games.
