Hello fellow geeks and gamers :-) Welcome to my Boardgamegeek Profile. I have only recently managed to rekindle my love for boardgaming (after a few years hiatus), thus the void in my "Played" section. As a member of BGG, you know how many great games one misses if you skip a few boardgming seasons, only to realize, you are yet to play the base game while there are already ten expansions in the wild. Anyway, I am trying to catch up.
I grew up gaming with my Dad. Since his thirties he and his three best friends have been meeting every week for a games and a catch-up night. They still do, after 30 years. I was always allowed to stay up late and play games with them. They played their way through the 3M bookshelf and back, abstract strategy games, card games and economy games.
Later, my dad and I started playing on our own and we still play games like Carcassone and Acquire when I go back to Germany to see him to this day. In my youth I became seriously geeky after my gateway experience with HeroQuest and it all went from there . . .RECENTLY PLAYEDMy Top 10:
These are my favourite games of all-time, which keeps changing of course, but this should give you an idea of what I enjoy playing the most. However, the Top 10 does not reflect my ratings 1-to-1 because I am reluctant to include games in my Top 10 after only a few players and as such, some games could be rated lower than others but still be in my Top 10 because I am sure I do like them.NOTE:
Only games with at least 5 plays can make my Top 10.My Hot 10:
My Hot 10 is made up of games I enjoyed playing and have been playing the most recently, as well as games which I suspect to be even more to my liking once I play them more than a few times, they are the strongest contenders to remain or be included in my Top 10 list.RANDOM ITEMS FROM MY WISHLISTWho am I as a gamer ?
I would consider myself a "gamer"
That is why I like all genres, themes, be Euro, Ameritrash or wargame, it does not really matter to me.
Of course, there are some games I prefer over others, but I can have fun with any old game, no matter how low I rated it. In that case I enjoy the company more than the game itself, especially when someone else is really into it. I am also an avid collector so I might bring a rather obscure and bizarre game to the table just to deepen my understanding of the gaming universe.
The only thing I am serious about is being nice to each other, I have experienced a fair share of ignorance, nastiness and race/sexism around gaming-tables and that is something I dislike with a passion.
That being said, I am not the most competitive of players. I will try and win any game, of course, but I am not one to sulk or become angry around a game. Any more questions ? Drop me a line . .
