I started playing modern board games in the fall of 2010. Once I learned the types of games I enjoyed (worker placement, deck builders, resource management, cooperative games) I was hooked. My game collection is growing and I've now had the chance to play several types of games and enjoyed many of them.
Board gaming is a nice change of pace from a society that focuses so much attention on staying connected electronically to the world at the expense of real human interaction. There is no substitute for getting together for a live game and having fun!
Having said that, I've come to the realization that solitare gaming can be fun and a great way to stay more active in the hobby. Plus, with various aspects of my life taking up so much of my time, solitaire gaming allows me to fit in games whenever it's convenient.
For 2016, I plan on attempting the 10X10 Hardcore & Normal Challenges. I will try to make an effort to log my plays on BGG to track my progress. I'm also participating in the Winter Weightloss Challenge.
I think it's time to concentrate my game collection and focus more on playing games rather than buying new ones. I hope to slow down my purchasing new titles this year and even sell some games that I just don't play.
I hope everyone has a great 2016! Happy Gaming!
