Hello there, I'm David Moffett. Tabletop gaming is my favorite hobby among many hobbies (I greatly value my free time). I reckon there isn't really much of interest here, at least not any more than any other Geek profile. I guess the only real thing of note are my comments on the games in my collection. Generally, they are micro overviews, sometimes micro reviews of the games and I've put a fairly large degree of effort into them over the years, they also have links to the few full reviews I have done on games that really interested me. Other than that I suspect you may be here because you want to know a little more about me, for whatever reason.
I work in retail, specifically the front end of a popular American grocery chain, have for over a decade, it was/is my first job. I handle customer service along with a team of others most of whom I am very fond of. I particularly enjoy the light accounting aspects of my work. I like to be by myself, as a classic example of an introvert I'm not terribly fond of people in general (yeah I know, bad career choice), but I do actually like my job to some degree. I view work as a necessary obstacle (that may be too harsh a term) to my hobbies and time spent with my wife and small circle of friends.
Cooking (especially for my aforementioned friends and wife), eating, coffee, reading (both paper and audiobooks), sometimes alcohol enhanced conversation (on nearly any topic), gaming (of all kinds), nutrition and fitness (even if I slack on the fitness side sometimes), gardening, casual pipe smoking, organization, and general self-improvement are all among my many interests.
I've been told repeatedly I am an old soul (and as my dear wife reminds me, a dork), I like this and do nothing to dissuade this impression. I take pride in my appearance and I deeply care what other people think of me (and hold that people that claim otherwise are lying to themselves). I despise the stereotype that all gamers are smelly, unkempt, basement dwellers but acknowledge that this is sometimes true. All that said, I do my own thing and most perceive me as merely a little strange for it, this doesn't bother me.
I think that's about it, and probably far more than anyone would ever want to know.Bout' Those Collection Comments
Oh, yes. A couple of notes on my, err, collection notes. I'm in the (agonizingly slow) process of revising my comments for my entire collection, reflecting my most recent thoughts on the games therein. Anything marked RO: xx/xx/xxxx
(Revised on) has been recently revised. I'm doing this because a lot of my early comments are pointless, or reflect an immature perspective on the hobby and like angsty journal entries from your teens should be
burned in a barrel
nuked from orbit
used as kindling
, treasured forever. Also, I do not rate expansions, all expansions are clearly marked EXPANSION
. Instead, I revise the score of the base game to account for the way any expansions I own alter it's game space. The Last Ten Games I've PlayedThe Top Ten Games in My Collection (by rating)The Ten Games I Am Currently Most Interested In
