What can I say, long time lurker and reader of the game reviews here.
Currently a 37 year old Dutch gamer, boardgames, tabletop wargames, card games, PC, whatever. During "normal" working hours I'm a simple engineer, working at a company that designs mobile offshore platforms, I used to as a diving instructor at a local Scuba center, finished a Blacksmithing course and am currently riding my one-cylinder motorcycle with much gusto (and noise, apparently).
Started off playing the standard games, like Talisman (1st edition), the old Space hulk (In my memory it was the Space Crusade version) game and reading awesome comic books at the home of my good friend Brian, borrowing his older brothers collection for perusal. (I loved and still love Sergio Aragones' Groo comic books)
The progressed to role playing games like AD&D, Runequest and on to such shames as Magic the Gathering and warhammer 40k.
Prior to going to university in Delft I became a member of a Dutch tabletop gaming club, Murphy's Heroes, where I got introduced the whole phenomenon of Eurogames and the more Grognard-y wargames.
I think the whole eurogame thing is fighting a rearguard action though, as my preference seems to lie with the more Ameritrashy side of gaming. What can I say: more of a gamer for the social aspect than anything else.
Due to friends moving overseas and the trouble in setting up a proper game-night, I'm currently also looking into games that are good to play with just 2 players. I am planning to get a regular boardgame night set up at some point in the future, though.
