I have always loved board games, but I found German/strategy board games through a friend around 2004 and have never looked back!
I will play just about anything once. I like card games, particularly trick-taking types. I also enjoy deduction games. I also like economic, resource management type games. I've never tried a war game, but I guess I would. I don't mind playing LONG games, so long as I'm enjoying myself. I generally don't care for racing games and will try to avoid that if possible.
In 2010, my favorite games were Race for the Galaxy, Brass, Through the Ages... Other fun ones I really enjoy are Ticket to Ride: The Card Game, Yspahan and Tigris & Euphrates (although I only get to play that about twice a year!!).
Now it's Feb 2012, I'd say I still love Through the Ages. I haven't been playing RftG nearly as much for some reason. I'm loving Trajan, Hanabi (the new crack) and Tichu (the old crack!).
