Dragons nocturnes: http://www.dragonsnocturnes.org/forums/index.php?showuser=61
A humongous collection of board and card games obstructs my basement. Having a
young adult means limited time to myself; German-style games and CheapAss games are the current favourites, although I like some CCGs (e.g. Mythos) as well. My wife paints and plays miniatures (Warhammer, Confrontation, etc.) One day we'll both get back into role-playing...(My "perfect" RPG is a combination of GURPS, Space: 1889, Castle Falkenstein and Call of Cthulhu)
My, tastes drift over time. I've fallen in love with BattleLore and Heroscape, and definitely tend to gravitate to theme-heavy games, like Arabian Nights, Smersh, or A Touch of Evil. I've recently found a small subset of the local gaming scene that is, like me, not averse to devoting a full day or more to a game. So I may finally get to play Magic Realm and other monsters like those.
I've come to terms with the fact that I'm addicted to theme-heavy games.
Oh, and I still need to clear my basement...
I'm perfectly bilingual, French being my mother tongue. But not all of my playing circle is: in fact a few are downright monolingual. So I guess I prefer games in French when they exist (which usually implies a varying premium in price and typically up to a year's delay). In some cases, though, I started the collection in English so I should continue in that language (e.g. my Munchkin is in French but my Munchkin Quest is in English).
Secret Santa (2013):
The two local shops worth checking out (my usual watering holes, really) are L'Imaginaire (http://www.imaginaire.com/
) and TPM (http://www.boutique-tpm.com/
). Local pickup is possible there. TPM is preferred, as it is litterally a short walk away. In Montreal, 200 km away, there is Le Valet d'Cœur (http://www.levalet.com/
), which would mean postal costs. Other Canadian suppliers may have the same postal costs, depending on the package size.
Secret Santa's 2013 Interrogation Room (partial draft):
> 1. What are the 3 things you're most thankful for this year?
a) Not being sacked by my government.
> 2. What is your favorite food?
I hate trying to give a linear answer to an obviously non-linear question. I like calamari. I also like peanut butter ice cream. And pumpkin cake. And salt and vinegar chips. NOT ALL AT ONCE!
> 3. If you can meet one person (dead or alive) and play games with him/her, who would it be?
Let's say Tom Baker.
> 4. What's your favorite game this year?
Probably Fortune and Glory.
> 5. If you can bring 3 games to a deserted island with 3 other survivors, what games will you bring and why?
* Magic Realm, because we'd probably not get through it before we'd be rescued (or died)
* A Touch of Evil, because it has great replay value
* Arabian Nights
Oh my, the package is already sent?! For me, e-mail isn't instant messaging. I do it maybe once a week...
I'll pick it up tomorrow, Thursday. The shops aren't open late on Monday-Wednesday.
