Here's my most recent:
I tend to not like the heaviest
Or real long
I'm usually up to try one but it should be early in the day, after a substantial dose of caffeinated soda (and this is very important!
) with someone who knows the rules and is a good *'splainer
My favorite games include a healthy mixture of luck and skill. I lean toward auction and worker placement games but my favorites include lots of different mechanisms.
And rarely go over 2 hours.Power Grid
is still my only '10'!
*A Good 'Splainer:
Gives an overview of the game, tells you how each turn/round works, and tells you how the game ends.
Once I've played a game, I'm pretty good at explaining it.
I salute those who can pull off the shrinkwrap, read the rules, and be ready to explain. That's not me.
If there's a weekend where nothing interesting is happening, I'll usually try to put something together.
And I've missed the weeknight gaming/gamers I lost when I moved from the westside. But my hopes for a regular weeknight game remain high.
And, yes, I actually live in Alhambra.
