Hey, you're a gamer too? What a coincidence!
By my reckoning, I've been gaming since 1970. I loved playing Yahtzee, Clue, and Rummy with my Grandma and Aunt, and the neighborhood kids used to play various sports board games. I became a serious gamer in high school when I was introduced to RPGs and chit-based wargames. I've been hooked ever since.
My interests used to regularly rotate focus between board, mini, and RPG games, but I've been keenly focused on RPGs for the last several years. I still manage to work some board games into the mix, but minis have been on the shelf (literally) for years.
Our gaming group has its roots in the early 1980's. Due to geography, we only get together once a month and for a Gen Con vacation. I'm working on trying to get together with some new local RPGers, but it's not as easy as it looks.
I was stunned to have been named the 18th RPG Geek of the Week (RPG Geek of the Week #18: Bruce McGeorge (brumcg)
). I've been using the Geek since 2004, but really only starting participating when RPG Geek came around; I can't think of a better place (or one where I spend so much time).
I'm trying something new with my Top 10 and Hot 10.
Top 10 are my all-time favorite single entities in RPGs. It can be misleading. For example, I love Iron Kingdoms
as a setting but I'm not a fan of any of the RPGs that have been released for it.
Hot 10 are the things currently on my brain. Things I'm currently reading, researching, prepping, running, or playing.
Sorry, I'm going to be a pain this time around. My wishlist is really small. I've tried and failed to expand it. I would just be adding things that I really don't want.
Don't be hesitant to use my Lump of Coal suggestion. I get a great deal of enjoyment out of Ken and Robin Talk About Stuff
My wishlist is up to date, and the 1-4 ratings are accurate.
Anything on the list would be great! If this helps, this is how I feel about the ratings:
1 - This will almost certainly end up in my collection.
2 - There's something holding me back from purchasing it... but I want it.
3 - I'm on the fence.
4 - I'm not planning on purchasing it, but there's something curious that keeps it on my radar.
5 - This has been on my wishlist recently, but I definitely don't want it now. I purge these every so often.
If something isn't currently in the database but is/might be available, I'll note it in A Lump of Coal
. There also might be some "out of the box" items listed there.
I may add things to my wishlist after targets go live, but I won't remove, change ratings, or (above all!) purchase anything. Let me know if you would like me to add more items; my wishlist is the smallest it has been in years.
I'm easy. New or used... no problem. I'm a reader not a collector; softcover versions are fine. I do prefer print over pdf if possible. If you think you have a better idea than something on my list, go for it.
Purchase things from wherever you want. Save some bucks by going to Amazon or pay full price from your FLGS and ship to me... It's all good. If you really want, my FLGS is Comic Book World in Florence, KY; I'd be happy to pick it up. Send me a geekmail from Cthanta, and I'll give you the contact info for their gaming guy.Thank you!
