I like a variety of board games, though I can be quite opinionated about them. The best games, to me, are those that reward planning ahead but still reward the ability to adapt and tune your plans on the fly. If a game has too much randomness, then I'm not going to like it. Which leads me to dislike many games that traditionally rate high on the geek.
I am also a certified DCI judge for Magic: the Gathering. It has always been my favorite game for the amazing depth of strategy and gameplay available from what is, at its core, a very elegantly designed game.
