Really, I have loved games all my life.
I remember as a child playing all the popular games of that time - Monopoly, Skip-bo, Flinch, Clue, Life, etc. It wasn't until college that I really was introduced to Euro games. I first played Settlers of Catan when I was 19, and loved it. A year or so later I played Ticket to Ride at my sisters' house. My love for Euro Games began!
I served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Maryland for a year and a half. During which time my sister bought my parents some games: Settlers of Zarahemla, and Carcassonne: Hunters and Gatherers. The summer after I came home from my mission and before starting school again, while living with my parents, I met my husband (user name zelador) and we dated that summer. We played those games with my family, and he got a taste for them.
Meanwhile, I had visited my sister and gotten a taste of more games. Since then my husband and I have gotten married, and we have expanded our collection - sometimes slowly, other times not so slow. I'm the annoying wife that tells my addicted husband that we cannot afford another game right now - but more often than not I end up giving in (or on some occasions egging the game ordering on - after all I'm a board game geek also). Becoming a mom has definitely slowed my game playing down. We usually only play when he is asleep (otherwise complete havoc could ensue.) I am looking forward to when he can actually play with us instead of 'helping' us move pieces to where he thinks they belong. I'm also looking forward to when he is able to play some games and actually understand turn taking and such!
My Hot 10 are the games I want added to our collection the most.
