On the boardgame side:
I play weekly with the Tri-Valley Boardgamers, in the Tri-Valley region of the San Francisco Bay Area (See the website entry below for our Yahoo Group). We used to play a lot at lunchtime@work, but that's really died down of late. And I also play with another group of friends two or three times a year. This is all much less than when I was very, very enthusiastic about board and card games. On the RPG side:
I play...hardly at all. Back in high school and college I played primarily Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (1st Edition)
, with a smidgen of Top Secret (1st and 2nd Editions)
, Gangbusters (1st & 3rd Edition)
, and Star Frontiers
. I drifted away after graduation, but I've gotten interested again after a 20+ year hiatus. But now I'm drawn to games that are more rules-light, and less focused on fantasy. Since my return, I've played Primetime Adventures (Second Edition)
, and Fiasco
and would like to both play these more *and* try some of the others in my collection. I'm finding that finding players is a lot harder for RPGs than boardgames, though, at least for face-to-face play. There is a lot of fun to be had, though, playing some of these games play-by-forum. I've done both InSpectres and Fiasco, and they both have worked well.On the VGG side:
I spend no time on the VGG side. I've never really had an interest here.
I'm reluctant to create a Top-10 list, since I feel like games are very situation-dependent: no game works best for all situations. And honestly, I'm not sure what to do with the Hot 10 list, so I'll leave it blank, too.
These are my most recently played games:
