A little bit about me?
I have always loved playing games. I remember playing games of Payday, Monopoly, Risk on the rainy days when my family went to the cabin.
My introduction to "new boardgames" came in January of 2004. My family was on a skiing trip with my sister's friend's family. After we had finished up the day on the slopes, the dad of the friend (who owned the local comic/game shop) suggested that we play a fun game, "The Settlers of Catan". When we returned home from the trip, my family immediatly went out and bought the game. By the time I graduated that May, I had played Settlers many times, most memorably in BC Calculus/Statistics class (Our teacher Mr. Ross had a copy and felt it was an excersise in Statistics).
I went to University in Alberta in 2005 and enrolled in the Engineering Department. I didn't frequently play games except when I went to visit my extended family on long weekends. They simultaneously were aquiring a taste for these new games and Ticket to Ride, Shadows over Camelot and Mystery of the Abbey were quickly becoming staples of family gatherings.
In my final year of University (2008) my gaming exploded, just about the time I joined BGG. I started introducing gaming with my fellow classmates (most notably, my friend Tom), briefly joined a local gaming group and played more with and my extended family. In addition to playing more, the games were became more complicated like (my personal favourite) Tigris and Euphrates, Puerto Rico, Reef Encounters and Powergrid.
Since graduating, I have moved to Calgary where I work for a small engineering consulting firm. After spending the first year in the field, I more or less just work in the office. I frequently game with collegues and friends from university. Here are my most recently played games:Here are the games on my wishlist:
