It’s been a few years. I should probably update this thing. I guess if you’re reading this, you might want to know a few things about me, which I find difficult to express. Well, I love games and I don’t like being online very much, so it’s a testament to how much this place means to me that I participate as much as I do.
I have noticed a somewhat predictable cycle in board game enthusiasts like me and it seems I have hit a stage where getting the hot shiny new games is something I no longer want to do. I still do it, mind you, but it’s accompanied with a bit of heartburn as I think about all the games I have that I don’t get to play as much as I would like.
Many of my closest friends have been quite deeply involved with this site and the hobby as well, but right now, we seem to all have been caught up in our lives and loves to be able to get together regularly. My three year old son and my loving wife certainly keep me busier than the amount of gaming I want to do with my friends.
I am always on the lookout for new people to game with. My preferences run the breadth of theme rich chance laden games along all the way to heavy thinkers that have little chance, risk, or randomness to them. I guess theme pulls me stronger as a game, for me, is primarily about having fun with friends. If I am burning by gray matter trying to figure out a good move, than it’s not always my first choice.
My top ten more or less represent what I currently think my favorite ten games are. Ranking anything doesn’t come easy to me, so this list changes frequently. My hot ten are games I really want to get to the table. It also has rapid movement.
. I need to work on getting more of my older games back in rotation.
