My Geek of the Week thread...http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/129433/geek-of-the-week-jcar...
(I was actually GotW #57, GotW wasn't numbered before I started that with my #58 nomination)
I've loved board games for as long as I can remember. With three siblings, board games were good gifts that we could all share and so we literally had a closet full of games. Commodore 64 and Avalon Hill games dominated my teen years. CCGs, Playstation, and MMORPGs were my passions throughout my 20's. Boards game had definitely fallen by the wayside until late in my 20's.
I found a common spark for board games with my wife Sue, she reignited my passion for board games again...much to her chagrine. It's was at that time, while searching for some childhood favorites online, that I stumbled across a little game called Settlers and this website...and here we are.
Without a doubt, board gaming has become my favorite hobby. Learning to play new games and devising the strategies is my favorite aspect of playing board games. There really aren't many games that I won't try at least once, though I have gotten picky (jaded?) over time, especially with game purchases. I used to be a huge "cult of the new" devotee but having so many unplayed (or one-and-done play) games on my shelves really started to get to me.
I started Berks Boardgamers back in 2004. We hold a game day every year on Black Friday and monthly game nights. I also attend the World Boardgaming Championships each year which I highly recommend whether you're looking for competition or just a bunch of people eager to play games. (www.boardgamers.org
*** Trade/Sell Disclaimer: I love to trade games, however I am often slow to get a game shipped. So if you're looking to trade/buy just be forewarned about that in case you hope to receive it immediately. I have plenty of positive trader & seller feedback so no worries about getting a game from me. I also dont check my email everyday, the best way to get my attention is to look me up in Facebook ***
A note about my ratings...I don't give a final(whole number) rating until I've played a game ten times. So all of those 5.5, 6.5, etc ratings is just my way of saying that it's not a final rating yet. That being said, bad games will never get a solid rating because I'll likely never play them ten times. My Top Games:Recently Played Games:
