I love games. I have loved them my whole life. I have two kids who (kind of) enjoy games and I'm lucky enough to have a partner who appreciates and enjoys the hobby as well (but not quite as much as me - there are limits).
I enjoy most games, but really look forward to meaty euro and economic games. I'm an avid train gamer as I love the combination of spacial game play combined with a challenging economy. I also love games that have a fairly simple rule set but create complex in-game problems to figure out. As a former role-player, I appreciate a good thematic adventure game, but I tend to get overwhelmed with lots of tiny modifiers and special powers to keep on top of.
I am an enthusiastic rule-reader and an excellent game teacher. I have a game group that meets in the San Francisco East Bay every Thursday night. If you are interested in attending, geekmail me. I am in a stage now where attendance and consistency is low and I would like to get some more regulars involved.
I rate my games on a 1-10 scale and I try to comment on all of the games I've played. If you have similar tastes, a similar rating scale and you leave game comments I will geekbuddy you. I trust the opinions of my geekbuddies above all because I picked them!
While I appreciate all mechanics that are well-used, mechanics that tend to rely more on chance will interest me less.
My Top 10 are the games that I consider to the best of ALL TIME. At least, the best that I have played. I may not want to play all of the games on this list, but I have mountains of respect for them.
My Hot 10 is a little more personalized than my ratings. Games that I personally love (even if the designs are flawed and don't get as high marks from me).
I am an active trader, both in direct trades and in math trades and I try to respond to all offers. Right now I am trying to downsize. So trades where I send multiple items for a single item (with the same relative value) will be looked upon favorably!
