I have been playing games for as long as I can remember and "gaming" since the late seventies.
In high school, I played a bunch of Avalon Hill games and TSR role-playing games and attended a few mini-cons in Lake Geneva, WI.
Gaming continued throughout a stint in the Army. Afterwards, I played a variety of games on a mostly weekly basis with a core group of gamers at a local hobby shop.
I attended GenCon for the first time in 1990 and I've attended every one since. My kids have accompanied me frequently which is a special gaming treat for me.
I still game today with a group of more hard core gamers who meet once a month, some of them leftovers from the hobby shop days. Additionally, in the past few years my wife and another couple have moved from weekend card and domino playing to playing more "gamer" games such as Settlers, Puerto Rico, etc.
BGG has introduced me to many games that both groups love and at this point, I really wonder what I did without it.
