Grew up playing games thanks to my parents and grandparents. In those days it was mainly the classics like card games, dominoes, memory, a lot of kid's games by MB, monopoly etc... Sometimes I think my parents had 2 kids because you need four to play Whist
I have fond memories of my family playing Trivial Pursuit during christmas vacations at the seaside.
I don't remember much boardgaming in my teenage years, other interests I suppose.
In 1998 I joined the Antwerp Police Force and in 1999 was stationed in the precinct known as "Kiel". Not what what would you would label an easy part of town. Lots of different nationalities, a lot of unemployment, housing projects in dire need of renovations. And smack in the middle there was "Germinal Beerschot Antwerpen" a premier division soccer team.
I learned a lot in the 10 years I spent there.
In 2007 I moved to Essen (Belgium)and in 2009 joined the local police departement. With a few of my colleagues we held weekly gaming nights and after a few months we decided to start a gaming club, open to the public. Boardgameclub "Dobbeltoren" was an instant succes and attendance has steadily grown over the past four years.
