I would still describe myself as a Euro gamer with a strong interest in card games, but the emphasis has shifted from medium heavy to light/medium games, especially with my wife and occasionally my 2 sons. I also play in a game group of friends on a roughly monthly schedule. In both environments, the lighter games dominate, due to time and experience and the desire of the players but once in a while something more meaty will appear on the table.
I wasGeek of the Week #474
. My blog is semi-weekly updated here: Loofish Ramblings
. I regularly contribute to the What Did You Play Last Week geek list, as well as the monthly geek lists for Most Played, Dusty and New-to-you-a-Year-Ago games. Not the new to you one though, it is too much to keep up with and I don't really keep up with new new games so much. I think of myself as Cult of the Proven rather than Cult of the New (though I still read the new game posts with interest!).
My Top Ten reflects my favorite games of all time. My Hot Ten reflects those that I am currently playing or thinking about at the moment (including some that I have not yet actually played but I am very interested in) and as a result that will shift around as new games pique my interest. This bit is irregularly updated so might not reflect my current moods.
Friendless Server analysis of my gaming (updated for tabbed format):http://friendlessstats.dtdns.net/dynamic/tabbed/loofish
I was a role-player growing up - though I have not yet done much with the RPGGeek part of the site. I was also a Legend of the Five Rings player (plus some other CCGs to a lesser extent), though I have quit that particular habit. I played Settlers of Catan in Atlanta in 1996, still in German, then a bunch more in Minnesota, but didn't really get into the designer games hobby until Puerto Rico in 2003-2004 when a co-worker (who had worked in a game store in his younger days) introduced me to that and a bunch of other classic Euros. Nowadays it is me introducing them to him.
Outside of board gaming, I like to watch and occasionally play soccer and am developing my appreciation of well-crafted beer, I'm particularly a fan of the Belgian and English style ales.
