At heart I'm a war gamer but my wife has challenged me to find more creative/positive games. She refuses to play war games so I've been broadening my tastes and looking for the ultimate non war game.
I've discovered that I like sports themed games and games where you build maps and explore worlds but I have no interest in bookkeeping/resource management style games. For me a game must be very simple to setup/put away and MUST play in under an hour. I have also discovered that I prefer games that are cinematic and chaotic yet rely on my imagination to piece things together into a story.
The games my wife has enjoyed playing the most are simple abstract strategy games where each turn/each move is vital and the tension never lets up for even a second. Games like Hive, Mini Shogi, and Streetsoccer (with some house rules). Because I've found so few games that suit my needs I've decided to create and share my own games...
POST CAPTAIN - is a solitaire PNP game of sailing, sea chases, and espionage during the Napoleonic Wars.
TOUCHSTONE - is my take on the ultimate fast paced, violent, press your luck sports game.
TOUCHSTONE: OUBLIETTE - a solitaire redesign of TOUCHSTONE where both the opposing players and the maze-like playing field are trying to kill you.
HUNUNGA - is a simple but deep mix of Shogi and Chaturanga that plays with the speed and fluidity of checkers.
