I'd been enjoying games on a very casual basis for years, and stumbled across the more serious depths of Eurogaming while trying to widen the wife's focus; we worked our way quickly through the Kosmos series, Carcassonne and then deeper into the morass of 'proper' gamesRating and Commenting:
I rate and comment on everything I have played, and additionally add a star rating for games I own (but not expansions, books or mainstream games such as Chess, Scrabble, Bridge etc). Previously-owned-but-unplayed games get a token comment and rating for completeness, too. After a bit of soul-searching I decided not to include any games playable with a pack of standard cards in my collection, even though I play a lot of bridge, poker, gin and several others which get logged but not 'owned'. I do feel very strongly that a pack of cards is the ultimate game tool, and cannot just be broken down that simply.
My overall rating is not by any means a composite of the individual star ratings, which are intended to represent various aspects of the game in comparison to others in my collection. All ratings are fluid and are frequently changed in response to new games or feedback from others.
I encourage people to read everyone's comments - a lot of the better comment writers are a delight. I do not follow the suggested ratings
religiously, but my ratings are based on common-sense and criticisms. I do NOT shill or anti-shill.Gaming in the real world:

As far as trading goes, I'm always happy to consider offers, but I do turn quite a lot down. There are a lot of good games on my trade list acting as bait for games on my wishlist. If I am trading something you really want, I am probably more likely to accept two smaller games than one big one. You should also assume that I have removed and destroyed the plastic box insert - there are a few exceptions to this rule, but not many.
I am a relentless killer of box inserts and mini-pimper of games (lego card-holders; little wooden dishes and the like)
. In my collection of 250+ games, perhaps four or five still have their original plastic tray. I repeat, if you trade with me, please don't expect a box insert!
My Top 10 and Hot 10 are generally up-to-date, for what that's worth. The Top 10 are my top-rated games; Hot 10 are my most recently purchased/obtained/printed.Top 10
