I've been into this hobby since I was nine -- I started out playing Avalon Hill games, and playing nothing but Avalon Hill games for years and years. I tended to prefer the 2-player wargames, but I was generally open to others.
As I've started to settle into my "real life" (marriage
, etc.), I have expanded the amount and kinds of games that I am willing to play. I am also realizing how important games are to my life. At this point, I have become a enthusiast for the hobby, and try to introduce people to games as much as possible (within reason). I would like to find more and better ways to contribute to this wonderful pastime.
I used to log all of my plays, now it is off and on. You can find them here (http://boardgamegeek.com/plays/bydate/user/paddyodoors/subty...
), sorted by the most recent logged play on top. I wish that BGG users had the ability to subscribe to the playlists of other users. I like using that as a vehicle for sharing my games played -- I prefer logging the plays to writing a whole session report...
I've started to really enjoy one of the "newer" sub-genres: CDWs
. I have not yet played a Card-Driven Wargame that I don't like, so they are probably the hottest of the hot for me right now. But as stated above, I can and will play almost anything. However, I am generally quite merciless toward Euros -- it's sink or swim, and most of them sink... the ones that swim are the worthy few. I'll try any game once, though.
I'd love to schedule some FtF, Gaming Group, PBEM, or online playing... so if you're interested, feel free to message me.NEMO DAT QUOD NON HABET.
