Sorry for the delay in writing you a letter this year. For now I'll give you some updates to my letter from last year (the text below is excerpted from that letter). If there is anything more specific you want to know, just drop me a note.
My children are now 11, 9, 7, and almost 4. My older daughter still likes the lighter family-style games. We've recently been playing Camel Up with all but the 4 year old and they've been enjoying it quite a bit.
Just the other day I introduced Summoner Wars to my son since it's a nice tactical dice combat game. As expected he enjoyed it quite a bit and I came home from work yesterday to find him reading through the cards from several other factions (we only played Phoenix Elves vs. Tundra Orcs). He's also a huge fan of King of Tokyo and will be getting King of New York for his birthday this week.
My 7 year old seems to like the games from Drei Magier Spiele (Magic Labyrinth, Magician's Kitchen, etc...) and it starting to play more games on her own instead of being on mommy's team all the time.
As you can see from my collection and wishlist, my wife and I like worker placement games like Manhattan Project, Agricola, Le Havre, etc... She also likes card games like Dominion, Guildhall, Diamonds, EmDo, GtR, . We haven't really introduced those to the kids yet.
I also play games with my co-workers over lunch occasionally. We mostly play things like R, Lost Legacy, Coup, Star Realms, Ascension, Seventh Hero, etc... Quick games that can be played multiple times in an hour go over well.
I guess my wishlist can be broken down in to games for me, games for my wife and I, games for my son and I, and games for my family.
I think things like Black Fleet, Colt Express and Planes would go over well with my family. My son would love Battlelore. My wife would enjoy Imperial Settlers. My collection would enjoy more Uwe games (trying to collect them all to match my Fragor collection).
That's about it for now. Like I said, if there is anything else, let me know.
--------Letter from last year--------
It all started when my co-worker brought in Dominion to play over lunch one day. That was about 4 years ago. Since then my collection has grown to almost 200 games (yes, all of Dominion) plus numerous expansions and promos.
I have a wife and four children ages 10, 8, 6 and 3. The 10 year old girl has become pretty competent at a variety of games but she seems to enjoy Ticket to Ride the most. That also happens to be my wife's favorite game. She played so much TtR on the iPad when she was nursing our most recent child that she memorized all of the routes in the base game and the 1910 expansion.
In the coming year I'm planning to start introducing my 8 year old boy to games like Heroscape, Star Wars Miniatures, Dust Tactics, and X-Wing Miniatures. He essentially loves any game where he can kill things. Survive was very popular with him for a while and now he's into Mice and Mystics. My wife doesn't really enjoy dice-based combat / dungeon crawl games so I'm glad I have him to play those games with.
Most of the games I buy need to play well with two players because my wife is my most frequent gaming partner. We mostly play Euro-ish games with some of our favorites being TtR, Le Havre, and Manhattan Project.
I like to pimp-out my games when I can but my wife doesn't see the need.
I record many of my plays here on BGG but not nearly all of them. Many of the games in my collection have seen at least one play but aren't recorded here. I also don't record plays of digital version of my games. If I did Ascension would easily be at the top. I get at least 10 games of that in each week with one of my co-workers.
I tend to Kickstart way more games than I should and end up selling a bunch of them soon after I get them. One of these days I'll learn... or not.
That's a bunch of info about me... I'll probably add more as I get around to it.
