I'm a Spanish astrophysicist living in Switzerland. My wife and me came to Basel in 2010 and, since then, our collection of board games exploded from 7 to more than 200.
The games I like most are probably more Eurogame-type (examples I own: Stone Age, Finca, Kingdom Builder) but I don't dislike other types of games like easy Dungeon Crawlers (Claustrophobia) or Ameritrash (Elder Sign, King of Tokyo). I would say that I like games with many bits and pieces that I can move around in the board (it doesn't matter if I have to throw some dice in the process) good artwork and materials, slightly theme oriented and player interaction.
I also love small smart fillers (Keltis the cardgame, Mamma Mia, Archaeology, Monopoly Deal) but it is getting difficult to find new ones in this section.
I typically try to buy games that play from 1 or 2 players up to 4-6, because my main playing friend is my wife. Nevertheless, we have recently founded the Board Game Basel Association
and I'm more open now to wider player number ranges.
